College Station is a small city set in East Central Texas, north of Houston and south of Dallas. It’s centered around the Texas A&M University that has a large campus there. The city is well known for its educational establishments and is regarded as one of the most educated cities in the United States.
College Station began in 1860 with the arrival of the Houston and Texas Central Railway and the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. The college was renamed Texas A&M during the 1960s and is still the main feature of the city. In 1938, when the city was first incorporated, the population has grown from 2,000 people to 100,000. Despite this growth, we still enjoy that friendly, small town feeling that we know and love.
The modern city now enjoys a modern economy with research and educational leanings. It’s a vibrant place to live, with lots going on and an ever-fluctuating populace thanks to the university. Education isn’t all College Station is about though, despite its name. There are four business parks located around the city, all with small to large-sized businesses located within.
Our location has played a large part of our success. Being in central Texas, we’re within a three hour drive of five of the nation’s largest cities. We also have low property tax, a network of highways, an airport and public transport system. For a small place, there’s a lot to recommend us!
