San Diego is a major Californian city with a lot to offer residents and guests alike. If you’re looking for a modern, dynamic place to live, work or play, you’ve come to the right place!
In an effort to help you decide what to see and where to go first, we have put together this far from exhaustive list of things to do while you’re here. It is far from everything on offer, but it’s a great place to start.
We may be stating the obvious here, but Downtown San Diego is the center of nightlife, dining and shopping. It’s also home to the San Diego Maritime Museum and the USS Midway Museum. There is enough to do Downtown to keep even the most active of you busy for weeks!
Visit Imperial Beach, Coronado, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, or La Jolla if you’re a fan of sun and sand. There are some fantastic beaches around the area and are a big draw for locals and visitors alike. Some of these get very busy during vacation time, but are well worth the time.
Keeping the sea theme, Whale-watching off the coast of San Diego is something everyone simply must try. If you’re here in February, get down to the Cabrillo National Monument to watch them go by, or get on a whale-watching boat to see this natural wonder. It’s an awesome thing to behold.
Back on land, Old Town San Diego is our historic district with many preserved buildings from the Spanish days. There is plenty to see and do including museums, displays, exhibitions, live performances, as well as restaurants and shopping.
Balboa Park is a huge expanse of parks, gardens, museums, arboretums and more Spanish buildings. It also includes the world famous San Diego Zoo, one of the biggest and best in the entire world. It covers 100 acres and has thousands of animals and exhibits. If you visit any zoo, anywhere, this is the one to see.
Sea World is more commercial than educational, but there is nowhere better to get up close and personal with a wide range of sea animals and creatures. It’s also the home of Shamu, the most famous killer whale in the world.
La Jolla is a coastal community a short drive from San Diego. It’s a great place to explore secluded coves, lovely beaches and do some quality shopping while you’re there. There are also plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes to sit and watch the world go by.
Those are just a few of the highlights of San Diego. There is everything in our city to cover every taste and every peccadillo, so you’ll never be short of something to do while you’re here!
